Giving back to the community is one of our missions here at NJA Interiors. One cause in particular is near and dear to us. Having been a foster parent herself, our founder, Naïka Andre knows firsthand what it's like to navigate the foster system as a kinship foster parent. As an interior designer, she can also see the advantages of having a thoughtfully designed space to help ease the transition for the children and their caregivers.
In honor of Foster Care Month in May, Naïka partnered with an amazing nonprofit organization, City Living NY, and hosted a wall art workshop.
City Living NY's mission is to support young adults in New York City who have aged out of foster care by providing essential resources and support.
WALL ART WORKSHOP
In this hands-on workshop, attendees had the opportunity to unleash their creativity and personalize their living spaces through canvas painting.
During the workshop, attendees selected one of two stylish designs and received step-by-step instructions on how to bring their vision to life. As they painted, they discovered the transformative power of personalizing their space, helping to enhance their overall well-being in the simplest yet most meaningful way.
Simple, yet effective!
Throughout the session, Naïka provided individualized assistance and guidance, ensuring that each participant felt supported and empowered in their creative journey. At the end of the workshop, each participant engaged in a special show-and-tell session where attendees proudly displayed their masterpieces and shared their artistic accomplishments with their peers.
Each attendee received their own canvas, set of paint brushes, and acrylic paint to create their unique version of the inspiration art to take home.
