I recently wrapped up a bathroom renovation and could not wait to share it with you. If you follow me on social media, you may have caught a glimpse of it.
We transformed a dated 1960s mid century blue bathroom into one that’s guaranteed to boost your mood as soon as you step foot into it! Where this small bathroom lacks in footprint, it makes up in personality. The vanity is a real showstopper!!
We source a lot of the materials from local vendors and called in a talented millworker to bring the custom vanity to life. I drew inspiration from a cash register my client loved from a clothing store in Athens, GA and incorporated a textural element with tambor (ribbed) paneling along the front and sides of the vanity.
Due to the size of this bathroom and the lack of windows, we needed to make the space “feel” larger. Since floating vanities are raised and hung from the wall, you're able to see light bounce off the bathroom floor. This sense of openness (and light transmission) gives the illusion of more space. We went with a neutral backdrop: a light wall color** and classic vertical white** subway tiles in the tub.
**Here’s a great tip to keep in mind when painting your walls: white is light reflective whereas darker colors absorb light! The brighter you want a space to feel, the lighter you want to go with the wall color.
Renovating always comes with unforeseen bumps along the way, that’s the nature of the business. There’s no telling what’s behind those walls until you start tearing them down. No need to navigate this road alone. At NJA Interiors, our process allows for a stress free renovating experience, giving you the best overall results. If you’re interested in renovating your home, we’d love to talk to you! Send us a note here and we’ll be in touch very soon!
